金矿开采：基础知识、方法和技术
据估计，地壳中有300亿吨的黄金，而其中绝大部分藏在黄金矿石中。1吨黄金矿石中平均含有1克黄金。在进一步加工前，用化学物质将这种贵金属从矿石中提炼出来。
黄金的开采和使用
全球每年新开采约3,500吨黄金。大约有1,200吨的旧黄金（通过电器回收、黄金购买等）回流到市场。这些黄金都有不同的用途。珠宝业加工占比46%，私人投资占比22%，中央银行用作黄金储备占比17%，还有15%用于电子工业、科学和其他用途。
黄金加工的三个阶段
黄金加工通常分为三个阶段：从地下开采、提炼和制造。流程始于露天开采或地下开采。第二步，用氰化物浸出、锌粉和汞等有毒物质，通过化学作用将黄金从含金的岩石中分离出来。这些提取技术对人类和环境有害，至今仍存在争议。相对来说，硼砂法和浓缩器离心机是较为环保的黄金提取技术。目前，人们还在探索更环保的黄金开采技术。其中一个创新技术叫“植物采矿法”，将来可以通过植物从地球上提取黄金和铜。
黄金加工的最后一步，精炼厂分析金矿石并将黄金与其他矿物质和元素分离。最终获得金含量高达99.99%的纯金。
