Job Description

General Responsibility

The Transportation Specialist Support role is pivotal in providing operational support to manage and optimize transportation activities within the supply chain. This position encompasses the coordination of shipments, monitoring of freight, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams, external suppliers, freight carriers, and customers to facilitate smooth and efficient logistics operations.
 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Transportation:

  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of all shipments for BEUMER North America, both domestically and internationally. Collaborate with Sales and project execution teams to ensure that shipping occurs on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate overseas shipments, including arranging pro forma invoices, preparing shipping documents, and providing detailed instructions. Process customs paperwork to ensure compliance.
  • Manage internal shipments efficiently.
  • Provide information regarding transportation costs, customs duties, and tariffs to various teams.
  • Expedite shipments as necessary and update relevant stakeholders on the status, taking proactive measures to mitigate delays.
  • Select and evaluate freight forwarders to ensure quality service.
  • Collaborate and support the global transportation team and category management efforts.
  • Address freight damages in coordination with carriers.
  • Assist BEUMER North America Group companies with their shipping and warehousing demands.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project managers to ensure alignment and satisfaction.

Shipment Expediting

  • Ensure that goods receipts and completed orders are accurately entered into the system.
  • Confirm follow-up on orders with other BEUMER Group companies as needed.
  • Guarantee accurate data entry of order confirmations, including ship dates and order details.
  • Assist in updating the logistics management software (LMS) to maintain current and accurate information.
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers across the entire supply chain and maintain constant communication to identify opportunities for process, product, and service improvements.

Additional Duties

  • May be required to perform other duties not explicitly listed above, which may vary over time as determined by the Manager of Procurement to meet company needs.

Qualifications

Requirements/Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or a combination of experience and training that meets the minimum requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong time management skills, and exceptional organizational abilities. Attention to detail and a quick learning aptitude are essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in client relations with a professional, positive, and energetic attitude.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

Desired Experience:

  • Familiarity with shipping software (such as UPS) and SAP software.
  • Experience in warehouse and distribution center operations.
  • Knowledge of global shipping processes, including import and export.
