The BEUMER Group, Beckum, a leading international manufacturer of intralogistics systems in the field of conveying and loading systems, palletizing and packaging technology becomes the new owner of FAM from Magdeburg.

The industrial revolution reached Magdeburg in the 1830s.

From the onset of original steam powered equipment to the first double-portal excavator for coal mining, to today’s state-of-the-art machinery for bulk materials handling, processing and opencast mining, FAM has lived a long and rich history always being at the forefront of innovation.

On January 16, 1945, shortly before the end of World War II, Magdeburg was almost completely destroyed for the second time in the city’s history.

As a consequence of the war and new political realities in Germany, Magdeburg’s machine-building factories were nationalized.

After German reunification in 1990, Magdeburg’s industry and, consequently, the machine-building underwent radical structural changes.

Almost all industrial enterprises that had once shaped the city’s face succumbed to this process going bankrupt.

FAM Förderanlagen Magdeburg, however, was successfully privatized in 1993 and made a fresh start.

Although the largest part of FAM business activities take place abroad, our headquarters remain in Magdeburg, Sudenburger Wuhne 47, where the Company also makes its investments.

The new FAM head office was awarded the title of „Building of the Year 2016”!
